"We came for the rhinestones and stayed for the barbeque": A poetry reading and collaborative performance with M.A. Vizsolyi & Ronnie Yates
M. A. Vizsolyi is the author of “The Lamp with Wings: love sonnets,” winner of the National Poetry Series. He is also the author of the chapbooks, “Notes on Melancholia” (Monk Books) and “The Case of Jane: a verse play” (500places press). His poems appear in numerous journals, including most recently in The Journal, Ploughshares, Cream City Review, and Crazyhorse. He teaches writing in the B.F.A. program at Goddard College.
Ronnie Yates’ is a poet, musician/improviser/composer and interdisciplinary artist. His poems have appeared in Ploughshares, POOL, Colorado Review, and on BOMBlog and The Prague Review. He has co-authored with Charisse Pearlina Weston "Fantasy Objects", a book of art and poetry. He’s been awarded residencies at the Atlantic Center for the Arts and the Jentel Artist’s Residency Program. Yates is the poet-in-residence at Alabama Song and teaches in the IART interdisciplinary minor program at the University of Houston/The Mitchell Center for the Arts.
